Dear District Governor David,
Dear PDG Rami,
I would like to voice our deepest respect and gratitude for your expression of sympathy and sorrow following the floods in Belgium.
These floods had an unseen dimension – 240 cities and villages out of 262 were hit in Wallonia, our district 112 D.
Also in our districts B and C severe damage has been done. 72 people died, some are still missing, thousands of people lost their home and their belongings.
Our Belgian Lions Districts each formed a crisis committee that listed needs at the one hand, and collected funds, food, clothing, cleaning material and much more.
Local clubs in villages and cities hit by the flooding defined needs, the respective district committees matched needs by providing what was needed. Many clubs from all over the country teamed up with local clubs in the disaster areas to engage in hands on service.
We were proud to see that LCIF reacted promptly by providing up to 4 grants up to now – Lions international solidarity.
Thanks again for your expression of Lions solidarity, and our sincere greetings to all Israel Lions friends.
Kindest regards,
CC Patrik Vervinckt MD 112 Belgium
